West Carrollton High School requires 22 credits for graduation. Only those students who have met all requirements prior to the scheduled commencement ceremony may participate in the commencement ceremony. Specific credit requirements include:
- English: four credits
- Social Studies: four credits (must include World Studies, American History Since 1900 and U.S. Government and Politics)
- Mathematics: four credits (4 credits including 1 credit of Algebra II or Discrete Math and Statistics)
- Science: three credits (must include: one each of biological sciences and physical sciences; 1 credit of advanced study sciences - Chemistry, Biology II, Anatomy and Physiology or Physics.)
- Health and Physical Education: one credit
- Business: one credit including 1/2 credit Office and Desktop or IT Foundations
- Practical Arts/Fine Arts: two credit
- Financial Literacy: This state requirement will be met through the Government course
Graduating classes of 2014 through 2017 must also pass all parts of the Ohio Graduation Test.
Graduating classes of 2018 and beyond also must pass AIR testing.
Honors Diploma
Students must meet the following criteria for the Honors Diploma:
Meet the requirements of West Carrollton High School.
Pass all sections of the Ohio Graduation Test or AIR.
Meet the criteria in either A or B below.
Group A
Students attending WCHS for 4 years
Complete the College Prep Curriculum and meet at least 7 out of 8 of the following criteria:
- Earn 4 credits of English.
- Earn 4 credits of Math including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II or the equivalent (Integrated Math I and II replace Algebra I and Geometry) and another higher level course.
- Earn 4 credits of Science that includes Physics and Chemistry.
- Earn 4 credits of Social Studies.
- Earn 3 credits of Foreign Language, including at least 2 credits in each language studied.
- Earn 1 credit of Fine Arts.
- Maintain a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or a 1210 on the SAT (Writing sections of either test should not be included.)
Group B
MVCTC students
Complete at least 2 years of an intensive technical or vocational education curriculum and meet at least 7 out of 8 of the following criteria:
- Earn 4 credits of English.
- Earn 4 credits of math including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and another higher level course.
- Earn 4 credits of Science, including Physics and Chemistry.
- Earn 4 credits of Social Studies.
- Earn 4 credits of Career Technical coursework in a approved program.
- Maintain a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or a 1210 on the SAT (Writing sections of either test should not be included.)
- Achieve the proficiency benchmark established for the appropriate Ohio Career Technical Competency Assessment or the equivalent.
