OHSAA Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements for participating in athletic programs must conform with, but may exceed, the regulations set forth by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). In addition to meeting these requirements, all participants must have the written permission of his/her parent/guardian to participate, along with a valid physical on file in the West Carrollton High School Athletic Department. All West Carrollton students in grades 7-12, including those with an IEP, are subject to this policy.
- Passing at least 5 classes (not including PE) in the quarter preceding the activity.
- Have a minimum 1.5 GPA in the quarter preceding the activity.
- A student enrolling in the ninth grade for the first time will be eligible for the first grading period
provided they do not have more than one F on their 4th quarter grades from the 8th grade. - If student's nine-week GPA is at least a 1.5 but not above 2.0, then the student will immediately be placed into the Academic Intervention for Athletes Program for the current season.
- Beginning the second Monday of each quarter, weekly eligibility checks will occur. If a student is found to have more than one F or more than 2 D's, then that student will be placed in the Academic Intervention for Athletes Program for the remainder of the current sport season and ruled ineligible until they have, at most, one F or at most two D's. Students that are found to have one F or no more than two D’s will remain eligible but will be placed in the Academic Intervention for Athletes Program until their grades improve.
High School Eligibility Flowchart

PAY TO PARTICIPATE
In an effort to reduce the cost of the general fund for operating extracurricular activities, the West Carrollton Board of Education implemented a pay to participate policy that began in the 2000-2001 school year. The following procedures are to be followed as they relate to pay to participate.
- The head coach will provide an official roster to the Athletic Department one day following the first official practice or the day after final cuts.
- Fees may be paid at any time, but are due no later than two weeks after the first official day of school. Within this time span, student athletes must submit payment or make arrangements with the Athletic Department to remain eligible to participate.
- Fees may be paid in the Athletic Office or online using the PayForIt.net system. Coaches may not collect fees. Coaches must help this process to be more efficient by reminding their players, and periodically checking with the Athletic Office as to who has not paid.
- No refunds will be made after the second week of school. Student athletes that quit the team, or are dismissed from the team, or become academically ineligible will not be issued refunds.
- The fee for High School sports is $45.00/season and the fee for Middle School sports is $25/season with a family cap of $200.00. Hardship cases must personally contact the Athletic Director for an exemption form.
- The Athletic Department will forward all payments and documentation to the Treasurer of West Carrollton Schools.
- Parents and student athletes are to be advised the payment of the fee does not guarantee playing time.
- All unpaid participation fees will be submitted as unpaid school fees.
Athletic schedules are subject to change. Spectators and parents are encouraged to call the Athletic Department at 937-859-5121, ext. 8810 to confirm any event.

Directions to each venue: These directions are based off of getting off of I-75 at exit 47 and proceeding towards West carrollton. You will enter West Carrollton on Central Avenue.
West Carrollton High School: Turn left onto Alex Bell Road. The high school will be down on the right in less than one mile. The footbal/soccer stadium is beside the high school. The baseball diamond is behind the high school. The softball diamond is behind the Schnell Elementary School which is beside the high school.
West Carrollton Middle School: Continue on Central Avenue and the middle school will be on your right. The middle school stadium in directly beside the middle school.
Wilson Park: Continue on Central Avenue past the middle school. Turn left onto Elm Street. Wilson Park is down on the right aprox. 2 miles.
West Carrollton YMCA: Turn left onto Alex Road (1st road past Alex Bell). The YMCA will be down on your left less than 1 mile.
Pipestone Golf Course: Route 725 West to Byers Road. Turn left onto Byers Road travel 2 miles. Turn right onto Benner Road and the golf course will be on your Left about 1 mile.
Mound Golf Course: Route 725 West to Gebhart Church Road. Turn Left onto Gebhart Church Road. Go to Maui Road, turn right. Go to Linden, turn right. Go to Sixth street, turn left. Then procedd to Mound Avenue, Turn left onto Mound and proceed to course.
Capri Lanes: At the intersection of Dorothy Lane and South Dixie (Kettering Blvd.), head north towards Dayton and Capri Lanes is down 2 blocks on the left.
Adult = $6.00
Student/Senior = $4.00
*ALL tickets at the gate for home varsity football games are $6.00 (GWOC is $7.00 at gate)

At West Carrollton athletic events, a "student" is defined as a child that is in school grades K-12. If a child is not of age to attend kindergarten, then that child is not charged admission. This may not be the case when we travel.
This pass is good for all home athletic contests, excluding OHSAA tournament games. For an additional $15.00, this pass will allow you reserve seating at home varsity football contests.

Athletic Hall of Fame
The West Carrollton Schools Athletic Hall of Fame (WCSAHOF) was founded in 1997, to recognize and honor individuals who have made significant athletic contributions to West Carrollton High School.
Sponsorship
The West Carrollton Schools Athletic Hall of Fame is organized and sponsored by the West Carrollton Athletic Department with the support of the West Carrollton Athletic Boosters (WCAB).
Eligible Candidates
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Athletes
- The athlete must have been a graduate of West Carrollton High School.
- Cannot be considered until 10 years after graduation.
Coaches/Others
- Any coach, administrator, or support person who served in the West Carrollton schools for at least five years, and has retired from such service for at least seven years.
Nomination and Election Process
Nomination
- Nomination Forms will be made available through the Athletic Director’s office and the West Carrollton School District web site. The Selection Committee will only accept nominations in writing on WCSAHOF Forms, prior to October 1st. Anyone can nominate.
- The Chairperson will compile a list of nominees for review and consideration. There will be no limit to this number. The Committee may add names to the list, but not delete any. All candidates will be listed by year that they were nominated.
- The Selection Committee will verify, to the best of their ability, the information of nominees.
Election
- A Sub-Committee of three members along with the Athletic Director and the Chairperson will review any new applications along with the old applications. This 3-member Sub-Committee will bring to the entire voting committee at most 4-6 applications that will then be considered for Hall of Fame induction.
- Each voting member will have the opportunity to review the applications that the Sub-Committee has brought forward for consideration. Each member will then check yes/no as to whether they consider the nominees worthy at this time for induction into the Hall of Fame. Each voting member must note yes/no for each individual being considered.
- The Chairperson will tabulate the votes earned for each nominee.
- Any nominee receiving 75% or more yes votes will be inducted. The 75% will be based on the total number of members that actually voted.
Induction Ceremonies
Formal induction ceremonies will be held at West Carrollton High School, and will include:
- A presentation of the inductee by an individual selected by the inductee, or his/her representative.
- Comments by the inductee.

2011-2012 Winter Sports Highlights
Boys Basketball: The Varsity team lost to Miamisburg at home on Friday 51-57. Conner Myslowski had 16 points to lead the Pirates and EJ Liva added 10 points. The varsity finishes the season at 11-9 overall and 4-6 in the GWOC South. The JV team team lost to Miamisburg 48-59. The Freshmen team lost to Miamisburg 39-53. The varsity Pirates are back in action in the Div. I Sectional tournament on Friday, February 24th against Springfield at 8:00 pm at Centerville.
Girls Basketball: The varsity basketball team lost to Springboro on Wednesday 19-73 in the opening round of the Div. I Sectional tournament. The Lady Pirates end a season that has shown great improvement and has helped to lay the ground work for a break out season next year.
Wrestling: The Varsity team competed at the Div. I Sectional on Saturday at Centerville finishing in 10th place. Senior Derek McGrew finished 3rd at 160 lbs. and sophomore Andrew Sizer finished 3rd at 170 lbs. Derek and Andrew will both be competing in the District Championships on Friday and Saturday February 24th and 25th at Fairfield High School. Freshmen Ryan Fortner finished in 6th place at 106 lbs. to just miss qualifying.
Swimming: Sr. Kaylyn Murphy finished in 4th place at the Div. I Swimming District Championships on Saturday at Miami University in the 100 fly. Kaylyn will advance to the State swim meet in Canton on Friday and Saturday February 24th and 25th.
Bowling: The varsity boys team finished in 9th place at the Div. I Sectional Tournament held at Woodman Lanes on Wednesday. This is a fantastic finish for the boys team! The girls varsity team finished in 15th place at the Div.1 Sectional Bowling tournament. Great job girls!
Competition Cheer: The Competition Cheer team finished their season by competing at Springboro on Sunday. The varsity competition squad finished in 4th place in the small varsity division. The Hip Hop squad also competed and finished in 3rd place. Great job, and LET'S GO PIRATES!
