WC Schools Make Three Year 3.25-Mill Operating Levy Request

West Carrollton Schools announced a three year 3.25-mill operating levy request at the WC School Board Meeting on January 6, 2010. The levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $99.53 more in taxes a year. WCSD also announced a renewal request of the 6.5-mill operating levy passed in May of 2007. A renewal equals a zero increase in taxes. Both issues will be on the ballot on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.

The WCSD has made budget cuts in three of the last four years totaling 3.3 million dollars. The district also utilized House Bill 264 funds to save the district 4.8 million dollars for building renovations, improvements, and upgrades.

It’s uncommon for a district to make cuts after passing a levy, said WCSD Treasurer, Ryan Slone. This effort combined with strong community support of our schools has put us in a beneficial position for our students, school community, and our tax payers.
