Three High School Seniors celebrated Signing Day as they committed to colleges and athletic scholarships they received. All three have attended West Carrollton since kindergarten. Todd Bales will be heading off to the University of the Cumberlands to play soccer. Not only has he been involved in soccer in West Carrollton, including being the captain of the soccer team, he has competed in international tournaments in Amsterdam and Belgium. Other highlights include winning the Cincinnati West Gold Cup in 2015, being a gold medalist in the 2016 Warrior Soccer Classic, winning the Club X tournament in 2015 and 2018 and being the 2018 Buckeye Division League Champ. Bales has been active in the West Carrollton High School chapter of the Business Professional of America and has maintained a 3.0 GPA. His last semester GPA was a 4.0. Right now he is interested in pursuing criminal justice, but says he will keep his options open as he pursues his education at the University of the Cumberlands.
Tristan Dillon will be pursuing his education at Tiffin University with academic and athletic scholarships while continuing to play football. Dillon has played football, basketball and baseball in High School with football being his favorite sport. He was the team captain and earned the GWOC South Offensive Player of the Year honors. He was 2nd team All Southwest Ohio, 1st team All-Conference, participated in the Blue-Grey All American Bowl in Dallas, was named to Buckeye Boys’ State in 2018 and earned the Archie Griffin Award. Dillon has been recognized by the Education Recognition Association for five years in a row. He as earned a 3.89 GPA. He has been a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council and competed in the 2017 We the People competition. He plans to study history and become a history or government teacher.
Noah Martin will be attending Ashland University. He will be receiving a diversity scholarship during his first year, then transitioning to a baseball scholarship. Martin was a four-year letterman in both baseball and soccer, with baseball being his favorite sport. He was captain of the baseball team. He earned a GWOC Honorable Mention as a Freshman and was 1st Team All
GWOC as a Sophomore and Junior for baseball and a 1st Team All GWOC as
a Senior for soccer. Martin is a member of the National Honor Society, Student
Council, Youth Leadership Board and a Pirate Mentor. He has a 3.77 GPA. He is
excited to be able to pursue his education at Ashland University while also
getting to play baseball. Martin plans to earn a degree in criminal justice.
Athletic Director Evan Ivory stated, “These young men are doing it right. They played sports throughout High School, but they also remained focused on academics.”
