Forever Pirates
The class is led by Valedictorian, Bradley Sears, who will be going to Columbia University. He received a scholarship from Columbia that will pay $63,000 per year for his academic expenses. He plans to major in math and biology, then continue at Columbia for medical school.

Sears began attending West Carrollton in 7th grade, having previously attended Miamisburg and Valley View Schools. He was happy to make the switch because he felt West Carrollton offered more school clubs and more academic and college credit plus opportunities. He has already completed one full time semester and one half time semester at Wright State University taking varied courses such as Calculus and beginning Arabic.

Sears has enjoyed what he described as the smaller school atmosphere of West Carrollton while having the same or more advantages of being at a larger school. While at West Carrollton, he has participated in the Youth Leadership Board and National Honor Society. One of his regrets is not being able to compete with Pirate Robotics during his senior year because of scheduling conflicts with his classes at Wright State University; however, robotics and an environmental science trip to Costa Rica were two of his favorite experiences while attending West Carrollton High School.

Maram Abuhaidar is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2018. She has been taking advantage of college credit plus course at Wright State University. Classes in medical terminology and anatomy have inspired her to pursue biology at the Ohio State University and eventually become a thoracic surgeon.

There are 203 individuals in the Class of 2018 receiving 44 Honors Diplomas; 6 President’s Awards for Educational Excellence; 5 recipients of the College Promise Scholarship that will allow the recipient to go to college at little or no cost; and 39 recipients of a scholarship from the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship program. These are just a few of the highlights and honors earned by the graduating class.
