The administration, faculty, and staff of West Carrollton Middle School are committed to ensure excellence in the programs offered and to providing high quality learning opportunities for all students. The district mission is “to engage students’ minds, muscles and imaginations.” The faculty at WCMS is committed to this mission as we prepare all students to be healthy, productive citizens.
Seventh and eighth grade students will be given the opportunity to earn up to 4 high school credits during their middle school experience. These changes make communication among the student, the parent and the school more important than ever. The counselors, administrators, and faculty of West Carrollton Middle School are available to answer questions and assist in decisions regarding student schedules. While it is crucial that West Carrollton Middle School students receive a solid foundation in the five core subjects of mathematics, science, reading, English language arts, and social studies, a variety of elective course options are also offered at the middle school. Elective courses allow students to explore areas of interest.
West Carrollton Middle School's grading policy is as follows: Eighty percent (80%) of a student’s grade will be based on what he or she knows and can demonstrate. Assignments given while a student is learning new material (such as pre-writing assignments, homework, in-class practice, etc) will comprise twenty percent (20%) of a student’s grade. This policy is in effect to offer consistent grading practices and more accurately reflect a student's achievement.
I would like to encourage all families to become involved in their child’s education and in our school and district activities. Please subscribe to my e-newsletter to receive updated information weekly about what is going on at the middle school. Registration for the e-newsletter is on our web page.
