It is with great sadness that we learned the school district has lost another long-time Pirate. School Board member, Don Henry, passed away unexpectedly July 29.
Mr. Henry began his association with the Pirates as a parent. He and wife, Connie, supported their children, Doug and Jerry, as they went through West Carrollton Schools. Connie later became a school secretary at C. F. Holliday and Frank Nicholas, and Don and Connie would often be seen volunteering their time at those school activities.
Following the passing of Connie in July of 2014, Don continued to support the Pirates. He was appointed to the School Board on November 5, 2014 and has served since that time. He could often be seen at athletic events cheering on his favorite Pirate teams. He supported school groups including the band boosters. He was a staunch advocate for the safety of students, and often commented about driver safety at school board meetings.
We already miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
