New Quarantine Guidelines for West Carrollton School District

REDUCED QUARANTINE NOTICE FOR YOUR STUDENT: After consulting with Public Health Dayton Montgomery County, West Carrollton Schools will be amending its quarantine guidelines for all COVID-19 school exposures, including students exposed in sports and extracurricular settings. The new quarantine guidelines below offer two options and will take effect Monday, October 4th, 2021.

Quarantines for exposures occurring during the WCSD school day or when students are exposed while participating in WCSD sponsored sport teams or extracurricular activities are subject to two options:

Option 1: Traditional Quarantine

  • Close Contact must quarantine for 14 days following exposure to a positive testing individual.

  • No COVID testing is required.

  • Student may return following the 14 day quarantine if he/she remains symptom-free.

Option 2: Shortened Quarantine

  • Close Contact may quarantine for 7 days following exposure to a positive testing individual. If the following conditions are met:

    • Student remains symptom free.

    • Student receives a negative COVID test result on or after the fifth day following exposure.

    • Student submits proof of the negative test result to the school nurse who verifies test date and assigns a student return to school date (the next school day following 7 full days of quarantine).

    • Home tests kits are not accepted for shortened quarantine. All tests must be administered in a medical or pharmacy setting (including telehealth) and a printed or emailed test result including the child’s name and date of test must be included.

    • Early-return-to-school clearance must be determined by a WCSD Nurse before the student is allowed to return to school.
