There’s a new school in town! West Carrollton Elementary School will house all second through fourth-grade students when the new school year begins on August 20. Construction of new schools began after the passage of the November 2019 Building Bond Issue.
The State of Ohio is paying 81% and the community is paying 19% of the co-funded costs of construction.
A two-phase construction plan began immediately following the passage of the Building Bond Issue. The first buildings constructed were the Early Childhood Center for preschool through first-grade students and the Intermediate School that houses fifth and sixth-grade students. Both buildings opened for the 2022-23 school year. The second phase of construction was West Carrollton Elementary and West Carrollton Middle/High School. The elementary school will open for the 2025-26 school year, and the Middle/High School will open for the 2026-27 school year.
An independent study by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission of each school in the district determined that the cost of maintenance and building updates needed outweighed the cost of constructing new buildings.
