West Carrollton High School hosted the Region 19 BPA (Business Professionals of America) Awards Ceremony on January 9, which was attended by area students who participate in BPA. Students learned the awards they received following the Region 19 BPA competition.

It was a record-breaking experience for WCHS. Students set a new school record for the most wins in WCHS history. There were 13 students who won first place as an individual or team in the regional competition (another school record!) and will advance to the State Competition.

Students compete in a variety of categories. The following is a list of students who will advance to the State Competition, along with their area of competition.

Broadcast News Production Team – 1st Place - Julia Kennedy, Addison Porter, Jariyah Walker

Computer Animation Team - 1st Place - Sophia Monk, Madilyn Ostrander, Claire Weber, Nico Whitsel

Entrepreneurship - 1st Place – Andrea Arellano Cendejas

Presentation Management Individual - 1st Place – Michael Goodspeed

Visual Design Team - 1st Place - Leland Alsup, Brayden Gabbard, Demetri Heisey, Connor Pappas

The State Competition will be held on February 23 and February 24 in Columbus. Students who perform well at the State Competition will be eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference to be held in May in Nashville.

Beyond preparing for and competing in BPA competitions, High School Students also serve as mentors to Middle School students, providing critiques and feedback to help Middle School students improve their own projects.
