The Hatcher family has a long history in Pirate softball. Doug Hatcher coached softball for 19 seasons, and his daughter, Rachel Hatcher, joined him for 7 of those seasons.
Another Hatcher was involved from 2005 to 2024. "Grandpa Joe" (Doug's father and Rachel's grandfather) was the voice of softball and always had a story to inspire the team. A bench to commemorate Grandpa Joe was recently installed at the softball field following his passing in March.
