Meet LaDarius. We spoke to him earlier in the school year when he was trying to decide between attending Sinclair or Bowling Green after graduation. He is now learning towards Bowling Green, but that may be hard for him. While at Boys Buckeye State last summer, he admits to being homesick. Besides Boys Buckeye State, LaDarius has been involved in Business Professionals of America. Along with his teammates, he placed in the regional competition for the Podcast Production Team, which qualified him for the State competition. He has also enjoyed doing video production and broadcast news at school. He served as the Spirit Captain at school, which he enjoyed because it let him get to know more people. LaDarius was also the Soccer Captain. One of his favorite soccer experiences was scoring his first hat trick. “I felt like I was on top of the world.” He ended up with two hat tricks for the season. In the classroom, he was first in the school on the Americanism test, which covers government processes and the Ohio State government. He said he enjoyed Ms. McNally’s government classes, and she was the one who referred him to Boys Buckeye State. He said many teachers inspired him in school, including his Middle School Teacher, Mr. Vest, “who was silly and goofy and made me enjoy social studies,” and his High School teacher, Mr. Newman, “who challenges me every day.” He said what he would miss most about WC is, “The overall experience of being with all kinds of different people. It’s way more diverse than some schools and way more inclusive. It’s a special place.” His advice for incoming freshmen is, “Don’t take it for granted. Set yourself up with a good GPA. It goes by fast. You don’t have much time.” Congratulations LaDarius! No matter where you go, you will always be a Pirate! #wcclassof2026
