Evening of Strings

Evening of Strings
Thursday, October 16
7:30 p.m.
Northmont Thunderdome

West Carrollton Director of Orchestras, Marissa Ericson, does more than teach music to students. She instills a love of music in her students! Class of 2026 graduate, Kirah Graham, credits Mrs. Ericson for giving her a passion for music and said, “She’s the reason I’m going to college.” Class of 2023 Salutatorian, Ashley Williams, was the violin concertmaster in the orchestra. She said, “Mrs. Ericson was a positive factor in my life.”

Mrs. Ericson encourages students to perform outside of the school. One of her students, Yahir Portillo, performed with the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra, and she was there to hear the performance and congratulate him for his accomplishment. She was joined by two Middle School cellists this past summer to perform at Giving Strings, an outdoor charity concert.

Mrs. Ericson’s next significant endeavor is being the chair of this year’s Evening of Strings performance. Over 450 students (including Pirates!) from 13 high schools will come together to perform. Students will be able to spend part of the day before the performance with composer Doug Spata, who will be conducting the grand finale pieces.
