Meet Mia. She likes reading. She likes math and answering questions. She recently completed an opinion paper about how kids shouldn’t have their own VR because there may be inappropriate things on them. Mia also likes playing on the playground and the PBIS parties at school. When she’s not at school, she participates in cheer and enjoys playing with her friends, jumping on the trampoline. One day, she would like to be a nurse. “I can earn lots of money!” #wcpiratepride #wcclassof2035

Who are these masked heroes? They are some of the people who drive a school bus every day and make sure our Pirates get to school and back home. We need more heroes! If you are interested in becoming a superhero, we will help you get there! Contact our transportation department at 937-859-5121, ext. 7, for details.

Things aren't always what they seem. What some people may throw away, these ECC students repurposed into some creative projects. Students in Mrs. Gore's ECC class had an Earth Day recycling contest, and these were the winners. They had to create something new from “trash” and then share with the class what they used and what they made.

The ECC enjoyed the three P's last week - PBIS, popsicles, and extra playground time. It was a PBIS award to recognize all of the good things our littlest Pirates (yes! that's another P!) are doing.

Elementary school students have been testing and have found it to be "easy cheesy" because they knew it was time to "lock in" and "rock this test." They even found some time to be creative!

It's a beautiful Spring Day, and it's Earth Day. Ms. Rosholt and Ms. Taylor’s class at the middle school celebrated both with some time spent outside and some dirt pudding. Not to worry. It wasn't real dirt or worms!

Last Wednesday night, Representative Tom Young came to the school board meeting with commendations from the State of Ohio House of Representatives to recognize the boys' basketball team for their winning season and for Coach Parker on achieving 100 wins for the Pirates. Today, we presented the certificates to some of the team members and Coach Parker. The basketball team certificate will be going to the school's trophy case.

The new Middle/High School is impressive, but we're not forgetting our history! Find out about the Middle School bell (and why it's really just a school bell), and how the Pirate Ship from the floor of the High School serves as the division between the Middle School and High School, and also as a rite of passage as students transition from 8th grade to the High School. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7IJ2Zi9WpI

You may have seen the new Middle/High School from the outside, but there are things you can't see! The student-run Pirate Bay Cafe has been relocated to the new school and will continue to serve students and staff when school resumes in August. The new courtyard has a deck shaped like a ship. The dining area for students is full of light. The High School gym has seating for Pirate fans and visitors as well as special seating for students and the pep band. Classrooms are well-lit and designed to meet the needs of individual classes. Hallways and lockers are ready for students' arrival in August. Some hallways offer a view into the courtyard. The library ceiling has been painted with a Pirate compass, and yes, the directions on the compass are accurate! There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house prior to the beginning of school. Stay tuned! We will publish that date when it's available.

The weather has been beautiful, especially for playing softball! We have some pictures from a recent Middle School game. Go Pirates!

If you cannot see the two students in this picture, it's because they're wearing camouflage to blend into their surroundings. It's just another day of Spirit Week at the ECC!

Spring Musical Director, Brian Coleman, posed with the cast of Hadestown, The Teen Edition, which will be on stage next weekend at the High School. Shows are April 24th and 25th at 7 p.m., and April 26th at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $13 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens at https://cur8.com/19905/project/137793 or at the door on the day of the show for $14.
After 36 musicals as a student and as a teacher, Hadestown will be the final curtain call for Mr. Coleman. He may have the longest affiliation with the Spring Musical of any individual, with his combined experience of performing as a student and overseeing the production as a teacher. Earlier this year, Mr. Coleman announced his retirement, effective January 1, 2027.

The Early Childhood Center had special visitors on Monday. Helping to celebrate Month of the Military Child were Andrea Edmonds and Shatila Smith, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base School Liaison Program Managers; Dr. Michelle Lewis, representing the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) and Purple Star Schools; and Pete LuPiba, State Counsel and the Ohio Commissioner for MIC3. The Early Childhood Center was one of six schools the group visited. The visitors met some of the military-connected children attending the school and presented the school with a certificate of appreciation for its support of Purple Star students. You can show your support by wearing purple on "Purple Up" Day on Wednesday!

Not all children learn the same. Intermediate School staff celebrate that as they recognize Autism Acceptance Month. Advocate, Educate, Accommodate, Include. That's what their shirts say, and that's what they do!

Did you know the Early Childhood Center is a Purple Star School? The school received that designation for the support it provides to students from military families. April is the Month of The Military Child. This morning, Principal Mrs. Longworth, Teacher and Military Liaison Miss Reichert, and District Social Worker Mrs. Meyer presented students with a parent(s) in the military a special certificate, an eagle, and a red, white, and blue hat.

Intermediate School students were in a pickle this morning! They were learning a new game and the rules of pickleball. Four nets were set up inside the gym for an indoor game.
