Shhhhh. Students at Schnell are doing IReady testing. Test results provide teachers with data to measure each student's academic progress. Results also assist teachers in determining if a student or group of students needs assistance in a specific subject.

Can you keep pace? AJ from the Intermediate School can! He completed 100 laps on the PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run). The PACER test is a multi-stage running test that measures an individual's aerobic capacity. The test involves running 20-meter shuttles back and forth across a marked track while keeping time with beeps. The time between beeps gets shorter each minute, requiring participants to run faster. The test ends when a participant fails to reach the marker in time for the second time. Physical Education and Health Teacher, Jen Moran, said, “this is so rare. I saw this happen about 20 years ago so I’m extremely proud of him!”

A cow? On a bus? The Butterfly Bus that transports students to and from the Early Childhood Center has adopted Peony through discoverydairy.com that allows students to follow the life of a calf throughout the school year. Some classrooms in the district have adopted a calf, but this is the first time a calf has been adopted by a bus! Fortunately, Peony visits the kids via pictures so no extra bus cleaning is involved.

You may not see windows now, but they are on site and will soon be installed at the new West Carrollton Elementary. Workers are taking advantage of the weather as they work on the exterior of the building. The building will be open in less than a year and will welcome second through fourth graders for the 2025-26 school year!

Early voting was happening yesterday. The lines to vote were long, but voters were happy to wait and eager to cast their ballot. Early polls showed a close race, but in the end, Duck won in a landslide against Farmer Brown.

It's Fire Prevention Week! Our friends from the West Carrollton Fire Department stopped by Harold Schnell this morning. Following a fire drill, the firefighters spoke about fire safety and the importance of having a home exit plan as well as an alternate exit plan in the event of a fire. The exit plan should include a n outside meeting place.

Pop can tabs + counting = a fun way to learn for Harold Schnell students! Second graders will be collecting pop tabs and using them to learn about numbers up to 1,000. If you have any tabs, they may be donated at the school through Nov. 22. After using them as a learning tool, the tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House charity.
