Are you the dad of a Pirate? Are you the grandpa of a Pirate? Are you the uncle of a Pirate? Are you a positive male role model for a Pirate? We want to recognize all of the positive role models who are supporting our Pirates!

All school offices, including school offices and department offices, will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, for Juneteenth.

Kindergarten Readiness Camp at the Early Childhood Center has been a lot of fun as staff help to prepare incoming Pirates for the first day of kindergarten. The campers have been learning to navigate the school, participating in classroom activities, and going on field trips. We found students learning about numbers and doing some coloring, but it wasn't just coloring. It was a lesson about colors, shapes, sharing, making friends, and having fun!
The ECC Pirate Crew posed together before the last day of school. Rain or shine, they are some of the staff who greeted families and students in the drop-off line, then did it again when students were picked up after school.
Students are gone on Summer Break, but work at the schools keeps happening! Classrooms are cleaned out, hallways are used to store furniture, classrooms are swept and mopped, furniture is cleaned and put back into the classroom to wait for the Pirates to return to school!
The school year has ended, but we still have stories to tell, including this interview with kindergarten students. Find out about their teacher, trash on the ceiling, and how they don't want to leave! Check it out at https://youtu.be/idyu3-vzJ28 and keep following us this summer! We have more student stories to share, as well as stories about what happens in schools during summer break!
Join the community to celebrate the opening of the West Carrollton Middle/High School on August 10 from 5 to 6 p.m. Following the ceremony, there will be a brief tour of the building.

All schools and school offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, for Memorial Day.

Preschool students made new friends this morning when students from the Elementary School visited the ECC. The older students helped with some coloring projects, then it was off to the playground to enjoy some fun time together.

Instead of asking questions, these staff members answered questions when they got together for Trivia Night. Speech Pathologist Rachel Monnin hosted the event for staff to spend an evening relaxing and celebrating the end (almost!) of the school year. The rumor is that some of the staff get really competitive when trivia points are involved! Now it's back to asking questions in the final days of school!

Let's get ready for kindergarten! The Early Childhood Center will be having Kindergarten Readiness Camp from June 1 through June 26. Students must already be enrolled in the ECC kindergarten program for the 2026-27 school year. If your child is not yet enrolled, visit https://www.westcarrolltonschools.com/o/wccsd/page/enrollment for information. The camp is designed to help prepare students for kindergarten. If your child is already enrolled for the 2026-27 school year, visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc_u7b-cTRYn2WoLIaWylKzfyLHLyKWiQMIPsnqRCMArkzigQ/viewform to register for Kindergarten Readiness Camp.

Moms, grandmas, aunts, and all of the other women who are positive role models, thank you for supporting the Pirates! Enjoy your day.

We have been celebrating all of our teachers and support staff this week. Pictured are just a few of the people who are committed to giving every Pirate an opportunity to succeed. We appreciate all that they do!

We're celebrating employees, and one principal is celebrating a birthday. It looks like Jen Longworth, the ECC principal, is 40 and fabulous. We think she's pretty fabulous all of the other days of the year, too!
Today is Teacher Appreciation Day. Thank you to all of our educators throughout the school district who are empowering Pirates to learn, lead, and succeed!

Who are these masked heroes? They are some of the people who drive a school bus every day and make sure our Pirates get to school and back home. We need more heroes! If you are interested in becoming a superhero, we will help you get there! Contact our transportation department at 937-859-5121, ext. 7, for details.

The ECC enjoyed the three P's last week - PBIS, popsicles, and extra playground time. It was a PBIS award to recognize all of the good things our littlest Pirates (yes! that's another P!) are doing.

Check out the Blue Crew! ECC Educators are wearing blue to recognize Autism Acceptance Month!

It was all about purple today at the ECC. Everyone celebrated "Purple Up" day. Even the stuffed animals had purple fur!

The Early Childhood Center had special visitors on Monday. Helping to celebrate Month of the Military Child were Andrea Edmonds and Shatila Smith, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base School Liaison Program Managers; Dr. Michelle Lewis, representing the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) and Purple Star Schools; and Pete LuPiba, State Counsel and the Ohio Commissioner for MIC3. The Early Childhood Center was one of six schools the group visited. The visitors met some of the military-connected children attending the school and presented the school with a certificate of appreciation for its support of Purple Star students. You can show your support by wearing purple on "Purple Up" Day on Wednesday!
