High School students have the opportunity to attend the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (CTC) during their Junior and Senior years. The CTC offers a variety of programs to assist students on their path to a career after graduation.
Sydney Kaley, who is a biotechnology student, participated in the Ohio Youth Institute and was part of a group that earned recognition as an Ohio Borlaug Scholar. The Ohio Youth Institute is part of the Global Youth Institute, founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Norman Borlaug for his work in advancing global food security. As part of the program, students researched critical food security issues in countries around the world and presented innovative solutions.
Through this experience, students engaged in high-level research, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving focused on one of today’s most pressing global challenges. Participants may have the opportunity to advance to the Global Youth Institute and the Borlaug Dialogue of the World Food Prize, held annually in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, all participants are eligible to apply for prestigious international internships, including the Borlaug-Ruan and USDA Wallace-Carver programs.

West Carrollton students have been recognized for their achievements in multiple areas. Jazmin Ortiz-Llapa earned the Clinical Phlebotomy & Clinical Lab Assistant Short-Term Technical Certificate. Brooklynn Rinderle passed the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board licensing exam and is now a licensed cosmetologist. Alan Sanchez was a member of the Natural Resource Management team that placed second in the state competition. The team will receive a banner at the State FFA Conference.
