It's Mustache Day at Schnell! It's one of the fun spirit day activities happening this week as we get closer to Homecoming. The theme this year is A Night in Paris.

Pop can tabs + counting = a fun way to learn for Harold Schnell students! Second graders will be collecting pop tabs and using them to learn about numbers up to 1,000. If you have any tabs, they may be donated at the school through Nov. 22. After using them as a learning tool, the tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House charity.

It was an honor to be chosen as the host school for the Jostens Renaissance Better Than Good Tour! Students from 28 area High Schools attended to hear keynote speakers and participate in breakout sessions. The focus of the day was creating a positive environment. Some lines from the keynote speakers included, "If you talk behind someone's back, you will always be behind them," and "You don't choose your life, but you do get to choose how to live it." Another important line for student leaders was, "They won't follow what you say, but they will follow what you do." These are powerful words for our young people as well as adults!

Congratulations to ECC teacher, Kathy Ross! She was nominated by a parent for the Diehl & Hubbell Teacher of the Month award. The parent said, "She is such a blessing to the school and our family." The recognition included a commemorative plaque and a check for $500.

Dr. LaShell Dauterman is the new Assistant Principal at Harry Russell. She is originally from Columbus and was an Assistant Principal at Columbus Summit STEM Elementary. Her teaching career began in Japan where she taught English for two years. After returning to the United States, she became a music teacher for 21 years. Following her family's move to the Dayton area, she worked for the Center for Adolescent Services and the Montgomery Educational Service Center. Now we are happy to have her and her experience at Harry Russell! #harryrussellelementary

It's a perfect day to celebrate being a Pirate! It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Sometimes I'm driving down I-75 and I get a glimpse of the construction going on at the High School, then I remember --- Eyes Up, Phones Down, Go Slow (but not too slow because I'm on the highway). This time I was in the passenger seat and able to get some pictures to share!

Let's give a hand to the Intermediate School STEM class students! They have been learning about robotics and will soon be learning to program the "hands" to do different tasks. #westcarrolltonintermediateschool

Caffeine and kindness -- the Pirate Bay Cafe is open for business! Job Coach, Dionne Jilani, works with students in the student-run coffee shop. Located at the High School, students learn job skills from making coffee to running the cash register. Students are also mastering customer service skills as they say "thank you" to their customers!

High School secretaries work as a team. After all, it's a work of heart!
