Mr. Thobe has an admirer. Today at the elementary school, students are showing they are thankful for their teachers by dressing like them. Connor wanted to dress like Mr. Thobe because he’s one of his favorite people. Good job, Connor! We are thankful to have you as a student!

Dental Hygiene students from Sinclair have a direct connection to the Tooth Fairy, and they are part of the Tooth Fairy Squad. The Tooth Fairy sends out squad members to teach young children about the importance of brushing their teeth and flossing. Children even learn about foods that are good for their teeth. Thank you for visiting the ECC!

Middle School students considering majoring in communications and media production in college had an in-depth look at a possible career. Media Production class students, along with News Crew students, toured the Roger Glass Center for the Arts at the University of Dayton. They met current UD students working on a documentary about social media and engaged in conversations about how social media affects their lives. Following the tour, they enjoyed lunch and talked about their experience!

Have you ever heard of glossophobia? It is the fear of public speaking, but it didn't affect any Middle School students who presented at the School Board Meeting last night. Members of the National Honor Society and Student Council addressed the School Board about the activities they are promoting at the Middle School. Students also talked about the News Crew and showed a short clip of a production they had created.

Today is World Kindness Day. If we start kindness at home, kids can take it to school and share it with their teachers, support staff, and classmates. Teachers, support staff, and classmates can take it home and share it with their families. It can keep spreading from there! Let's make the school district a kind place to be!

Intermediate School students had to have their passports when they visited Canada last week! Their destination was the All About Canada Museum, and to get there, they had to take a canoe filled with items for the trip. Working together, they applied their math skills to determine which items they could take. When they arrived at the museum, they learned more about Canada, including that the game of basketball was invented there in 1891, hockey is the national sport, and Canadians eat more donuts than any other country. They got a true taste of Canada when they sampled real maple syrup. Students will be visiting 13 countries throughout the school year, without ever leaving the classroom.

Some of our elementary students had a field trip, and all they had to do was walk to the West Carrollton Civic Center! The City Communications Manager, Miss Yvonne, showed students the offices at the Civic Center and the City Council room where the City Council meets. Students were able to meet police detectives, sit in the back of a police car, sit in the back of an ambulance, and see the inside of a fire truck. The visit coincides with what they have been learning about people improving their communities. Following the visit to the Civic Center, students visited the Dayton Metro Library to select books for research on an upcoming writing assignment about a person or group of people who contribute to their community.

Things looked different in Mrs. Schoenleben's class today. Even though she had a cowgirl, a police officer, and other mysterious characters in her classroom, they all managed to make it through the day.

Did you know that ghosts wear glasses? Some like to play musical instruments, while others enjoy playing on the playground. Whatever they are doing, and wherever they may be at WC Elementary, we can assure you that they are friendly.

Meet Ehaan. He didn’t always go to West Carrollton Schools, but he is glad he’s here now. His favorite subject is math because “it’s just how my brain works.” He enjoys talking about equations. He likes participating in the Uno Club at school and enjoys gym time. Outside of school, he enjoys playing football, video games, riding his bike, and spending time outdoors. He said, “I really enjoy time outside.” Ehaan isn’t sure what he would like to do after he graduates in 2033, but we will be here to help him along the way! We’re glad you’re in West Carrollton Schools now! You will always be a Pirate! #wcpiratepride #westcarrolltonclassof2033
