Superintendent Rusty Clifford, Ph.D., will compete in a game show battle of wits with fifth grade students at Dayton Crayons to Classrooms (DC2C) 5th Anniversary Celebration, presented by ACCO Brands. The event will be held on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Sinclair Community College, Building 12, Ponitz Center Great Hall. The Celebration marks DC2C’s five years of providing school supplies valued at more than $5 million at no cost to teachers of students in need.
Clifford has worked in education for the past 43 years, with the last 16 years as superintendent and asset builder for West Carrollton City Schools. A strong advocate for education, he has served on numerous efforts to benefit area youth, including the Dayton Regional STEM School Governing Board, Greater Dayton Conference on Youth and Learn to Earn Dayton Leadership Council. In 2013, Clifford was named the Ohio Superintendent of the Year and received the Champion for Youth Award by the Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County. He also is the recipient of the 2012-2013 Excellence in Outside Service Award by Wright State University.
Other community leaders joining Clifford in DC2C’s lively game show will be Carol Clark, publisher of Dayton Business Journal, Ron Rollins, senior editor of Dayton Daily News, and Lori Ward, superintendent of Dayton Public Schools. The game show will be hosted by K99.1 FM personalities Frye Guy and Nancy Wilson.
